Training classes are usually held on site in our training / community playroom, or outside depending on the skills being worked on in that particular training class and/or changes in the weather.

Puppy Prep

This course is a must if you have recently acquired a new puppy or if are considering adding one to your family. This course focuses on all issues that a new pup might bring such as biting, chewing, and, of course, housebreaking just to name a few. During this course, we will also discuss the significance of nutrition, grooming, and choosing games that are appropriate,  as well as the importance of properly socializing your puppy.
Class meets for 1 hour.

AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Testing

Welcome to all pets under the age of 1 yr in conjunction with the basic training class. We will administer the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy test at the end of the course. Upon passing the test, you are eligible to enroll in the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Program, should you choose to do so. (Coincides with basic training class)

Basic Training

This class is designed for dogs of all ages. We cover relationship issues, proper socialization, games/puzzles, setting up the recall, leash walking, feeding and nutrition. You will leave this class with an understanding of basic pack behavior, which gives you a foundation for encouraging the behaviors you want and discouraging those that you don’t.
Class meets 1.5 hrs. / week for 6-7 weeks.

Advanced / Canine Good Citizen Prep

This class prepares you and your dog for the Canine Good Citizen (CGC) test. CGC is a certification program that is designed to reward dogs that have good manners at home and in the community. The CGC Program is a two-part program that stresses responsible pet ownership for the owners and basic good manners for dogs. There are 10 different tasks that your dog will be required to perform under your direction, from walking through a crowd to nailing a perfect recall. All dogs that pass the CGC test will receive a certificate from the American Kennel Club
Class meets 1.5 hrs. / week for 7 weeks including testing and graduation.

Leash Walking

Tired of being dragged down the street when it is time for a walk? This class will teach your dog to walk nicely without pulling. Choke chains, pinch collars, and head halters are not allowed.
Class meets for 1 hour.

How many times do you yell, “Rover, Come!” before Rover actually comes? Coming when called is one of the most important commands that you can teach your dog. It could actually, in some cases, mean the difference between life and death for your dog.
Class meets for 1 hour.

Babies & Dogs

This class is designed for expectant parents, new parents, or anyone who has had kids and wants to know more about how dogs view children. First, you will learn how to introduce your dog to your new baby, as well as introduce your baby to your dog. Afterward, we will focus on socialization, as well as sharing value systems and rewards in order to re-shape and establish your pack with the baby as the newest member. You will also learn about the different ways that dogs view a child from infancy to teenage-hood and how this explains behavior issues that might arise. This is a single-session class designed for the humans in the family, so your dog should stay at home. We recommended that you attend at least 1 month prior to the arrival of your baby.
Class meets for 1 hour.

Healthy Coat Maintenance

The focus in this course is on the development of brushing and combing skills, as well as learning how to decrease de-matting and undercoat charges, while increasing the bond between you and your furry friend! Space is limited to 6.
